VOLUNTARY WORK

There have been a range of campaign, political, trade union, social, sporting and other involvements over the years, including:

'Elliott Comprehensive School', London - Reporter on School Newspaper; Editor of alternative school magazine ('ENUSS'); Secretary of Sixth-Form Committee; and student representative on School Board of Governors (1977-78).

'National Union of School Students' (NUSS) - School Branch Secretary (1977-78); and 'National Secretary' , including National & Executive Committee member (1977-78), also involved in media, TV & radio work; campaigning; school speaking; being a representative on national groups; debating on radio with Shirley Williams, MP, as education minister, etc.

'Royal Court Theatre', Activists Youth Theatre - Acting, Production and Editor of  Youth Theatre Magazine.

'Civil and Public Servants Association' - Local CPSA Trade Union representative whilst working with Dept of Employment at Fulham Unemployment Benefit Office, during 1979 Pay Campaign (1979, London).

'London Central YMCA' - Regular Weight Training, Circuit Training & general fitness instructor; and Youth Drama Leader; and member of the Physical Education Committee (1986-89).

'Rose Bruford College of Speech & Drama' - Secretary of Students Union (1980-81); President of Students Union (1981-82); and member of College 'Academic Board' and Course 'Board of Studies'.

'British Actor's Equity Association' - Committee member and Secretary of 'West & South West London' Equity Branch; and involved in 'Equity Left Alliance' (1983-86). 

'Leicester Polytechnic', 'Certificate in Youth & Community Development - elected member of the Student Union Council (1987-88); and Member of Course Board of Studies.

'Leicestershire AIDS Support Services' (LASS) - Student Placement and Management Committee member (January 1988-November 1989). Employed with LASS from November 1989 to January 2008.

'Little Theatre', Leicester - Leading roles acting in three major productions and also workshop leading (Since 1995).

'Parish Council' - Parish Councillor, including Vice-Chair; Chair of 'Human Resources Committee'; and member of 'Recreation Committee' (2002 to present).

'Owls Athletics Club' - UK Athletics Level 2 coach, working towards Level 3, regularly involved in working with young people with an athletics club (February 2005 to 2010). 

'Youth Games - Leicestershire, Leicester & Rutland' - Coach & Team Manager for the 'Harborough District Council' Year 5/6 Athletics Team in 2006 & 2007, achieving Silver Medal position in 2007 (Some paid work with additional voluntary involvement).
